Transferable

“A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.” –Oliver Wendall Holmes

The aim of this blog is to collaborate with other educationally minded people.  The title “transferable” comes from my belief that learning without action is wasteful.  If knowledge or skills are not useful to the betterment of ones own life (which could very well include the betterment of others as well)…why waste time with them.

What? So What? Now What? is a well-used reflection strategy that helps crystallize knowledge (What?), prompt reflection (So What?), and promote action (Now What?).  I believe all three are necessary to achieve “transfer”.

For more ideas about reflection, check-out the “Reflection Toolkit” from Northwest Service Academy, Metro Center, Portland, OR http://nationalserviceresources.org/files/legacy/filemanager/download/615/nwtoolkit.pdf

What are some reflection routines and strategies that you use?
